Gokak Falls

The Gokak Falls is a waterfall situated on the Ghataprabha River in Belagavi region of Karnataka, India. The waterfall is six kilometers far from Gokak town.

After a long twisting course, the Ghataprabha stream takes a jump of 52 meters (171 ft) over the sand-stone bluff in the midst of a beautiful canyon of the rough valley, taking after Niagara Falls on a littler scale. The waterfall is stallion shoe formed at the peak, with a surge expansiveness of 177 meters (581 ft). Amid stormy season, the thick ruddy dark colored water clears far over the edge of the bluff with a dull thunder that can be gotten notification from some separation. There is a hanging span over the waterway, measuring around 201 meters (659 ft). Its stature over the stone bed is 14 meters (46 ft). There is an old power era station and power was created here without precedent for 1887.One fascinating element of this place is the landmarks from the Chalukya period that are found on either bank of the rough chasm. Another fascination of this place is the extremely old waterway front sanctuary devoted to Lord Mahalingeshwara, worked in the Later Chalukya style of engineering.
